InSPIRE is a 5-week long summer immersion program in India that aims to facilitate the process of both internal and external exploration for young Indians/South Asians drawn to the land of their heritage. (South Asians include anyone who descends from the member countries of SAARC, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) During this process, participants are given opportunities to view India through various lenses by:
  • Exposures
    • Beginning to understand live and relevant social, environmental, and global issues (i.e. education, rural to urban migration, and globalization)
  • Interactions and Sessions
    • Meeting with inspiring personalities and NGO’s in India, including Indian- Americans who are involved in various endeavors in India
  • Exploring Development/Service
    • Experiencing the spirit and complexities of service by working with a Gandhian NGO and other grassroots organizations, while also exploring the contexts and realities of development (i.e. the role of colonial and post-colonial history)
  • Immersion
    • Taking local transportation, eating authentic foods, living in villages, and engaging with local cultures
  • Adventure

The external exploration of India will be a catalyst for the understanding of our interrelations with the world around us, our aspirations, and our assumptions.

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." ~Jawaharal Nehru
